Going to a site from bookmarks I am getting sometimes 1-3 popup sites before I get to my desired site. How do I stop the popups?

I have firefox3.6.8 installed and since I installed it I am getting deverted to other sites when I try to load a site from my bookmarks and sometimes moving from my comcast home page to a link within the home page. Once I have made the link to the page/site I wanted I can always go back to it with no problem. It just happends on the initial site start up. I have tried to scan with Malwarebites, McAfee and Super Ad Blocker but still have the problem. Any help you can give me I will be greatful for.

You checked under Preferences > Content to make sure that "Block pop-up windows" is still checked?

Click the "Exceptions" button to the left of "Block pop-up windows" and see if any unwanted sites got added to the list.

If that doesn't work, the NoScript add-on can help kill pop-ups in some cases, so it may be a useful temporary solution till someone can provide you with a fix to the problem.
