The font on my main page has changed to bold itallic - all folder names and message subject. This followed a PC crash. Now when a message comes in unread you can not tell that it is unread as it's the same colour - it is not set to mark as read immediately. Visually it's awful - list of folders and every bit of text is bold itallic. The message body is fine though. Any help appreciated.

Has this change in the font to italic effected any other program or any window you open in explorer? A general issue on computer?

Do you see the same issue if you restart Thunderbird in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

The change is only Thunderbird and nothing else on the PC, Explorer included. It is the same in safe mode.

An image is attached. The top two messages are unread but as everything is bold it is hard to tell except for the dot.

Cheers, Ron

The general UI font is preset and can be overridden by using eg: 'userChrome.css' file, but you are not using this and anyway it also appears in Safe Mode. Thunderbird also only uses fonts that are installed on the computer, but it seems to be misreading a font style type.

In your case: First check to see what version of Thunderbird you are using. 'Help' > 'About Thunderbird'. The current version is 68.4.1 If you are not using that version click on update and restart at prompt.

If you are already using that version: I would uninstall Thunderbird program. As I'm not sure what you are currently using, please check both locations and delete the 'Mozilla Thunderbird' folder:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\
  • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\

Then empty the computer 'recycle Bin' folder.

Download and install a fresh download of Thunderbird (use link below) to see if the settings get reset. Suggest you use the 'windows32bit' download which is written in black font type.
