Is I set up a Sync account and later delete it, does that delete the Firefox data on my computer?
I'm setting up a new computer and want to 'transfer' the bookmarks, etc to the new. I've never had a FF acct. After the info is on my new computer, I will not be using FF on my old computer.
Can I do the following without losing what I see on the computer: -Set up a FF acct -Sync both computers -Delete the syncing with the old computer -Delete the FF acct
Basically, the question is if the data stored for Sync is different from the data that was on the computer before I opened the account. Will I be forever tied to the account?

Data is kept on the Sync server for some time (some data like history and tabs expires) unless you would reset the password. Also data from other connected devices (e.g. Mobile Bookmarks and Synced Tabs) if you have such devices connected won't be visible, but you own data won't be affected normally. There are some cases where reconnecting affects your data.

It's all the same data. If you remove the sync account, only the data on the Mozilla servers are removed.
So the data that I see when I open Firefox is local? Meaning it's not kept on the Mozilla server?

Actually it all turned out to be ridiculously simple. My goal was to get bookmarks from one computer to another. I'll be deleting Windows off the old one, so there was no need to sync. The simplest was to find the bookmarks file in the old computer (directions on the Mozilla website), copy it to the new computer's desktop, then import the file through the Bookmarks drop-down features (also described on Mozilla). All done! Thanks!
