After a recent upgrade to 52.1.1 I lost the inbox for my main account. I recreated a new account which works BUT I cannot create any message filters that work. If I select "Move message to", I get "No available folders". If I use "Set JUnk Status to" "Junk", nothing happens

Any thoughts anyone ?

Steve,

Do you see anything in tools, error console (ctrl+shift+J) related to folders?

I have these two messages repeated constantly

NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgFolder.server] folderPane.js:919 gFolderTreeView.getImageSrc

NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgFolder.server] folderUtils.jsm:61 getFolderProperties resource://gre/modules/folderUtils.jsm:61:3 ftvItem.prototype.getProperties chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:2373:22 ftv_getRowProperties chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:969:12

Check whether the Local directory: path specified in Account Settings > Server Settings (at the bottom) for the Local Folders account matches the real and existing local folder. Browse to that folder using a file explorer first and see if that (or any other "nearby" folder) contains files containing the lost messages, provided that you used the Local Folders - you can open them with a text editor. By recreating the account, a mismatch could have been introduced, or the original folder is no longer there, whereas one with "-1" added to it could exist instead, and several things can happen, as you already noticed.

There may however be another issue involved: see this bug (note the exact similar error messages) as well as the one mentioned in its first comment and this question, and the other bugs mentioned there. As you can see, it may be best to uninstall your current 52.1.1 version and install version 45.8 for now.

Make sure to set Thunderbird to NOT update itself automatically before you do this, or it will update itself right after. Also create a backup of all profile folders you can find first, and check all path settings in Thunderbird for real existing folders either before or after the downgrade - this will give you some insight and isn’t as hard as it may look. You should not lose any email by uninstalling and installing an older version.
