I always click Never Remember Password for certain sites but still get asked if I want to save the password every time I go to the site. Does "Never" not work?

I remember passwords for some sites but not all. The ones I don't want "remembered" continue to ask me every time if I want to save the password. I click Never Remember Password for these sites EVERY time but still get asked EVERY time I log in. I do want my password remembered on most sites but not my banking, credit cards, etc. Ideas? Thanks!!

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Site Preferences

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

It is also possible that the server uses multiple servers and that Firefox sees this as a new website.
