Can not send mail because two days ago the "Send " mail tab is no longer there. I can compose but when I am ready to send there is no loner a tab to send. Receiving mail is fine.

Do you have rest of the buttons? If yes then I assume you have removed that buttons (maybe by mistake) - on a "new" mail (or reply) right-click on the composition toolbar - click on customize and see if you can add that button If no then I assume you have unselected "composition toolbar" to be displayed and then enable it again - in a "new" (or reply) mail windows click on view menu, toolbars, enable/click on "composition toolbar"

Hi, Yes I have all the other buttons. In a new or reply mail window, I do not have a view menu. When I first open I do have a menu, I open toolbars but there is no composition toolbar, I do have customize but nothing in there.

If you press alt button on your keyboard should appear also the menus.
'Hi,
Yes I press the Alt key and menu came up and the composition file was there, check it and now everything is fine.
Thank you so much, you are the the greatest ! ] Lee'
I'm glad that I could help :)
p.s. you have selected your own answer the chosen solution... you can undo if you want and select another one. :)
Today (Monday, Sept. 21, 2020) between 2:30PM (PDT) and 5:30PM, while I was working on another (Windows-7) computer, the Thunderbird mailer on my idle Macbook Pro (High Sierra) somehow lost all the toolbar buttons in the mail composition window, including "send" as well as all the others, and the toolbar itself. I discovered this when I came back to the Macbook to deal with some accumulated emails.
I have done several hours of googling and experimenting for ways to restore the missing functions with no success. There are several suggestions to use alt-V to bring back the menu; when I try that, _nothing_ happens. There doesn't appear to be any tool-bar in the composition window.
I've gone through the Thunderbird Menu options looking for a way to restore things but have had no success.
At the moment, I'm using the (command-enter) keyboard shortcut to get composed messages to send, but would like to get things back to "normal".
