Firefox automatically restores my previous session even if I close the browser or shut down. How do I restore so it opens with the homepage?

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Don't delete the files if you need to rescue any data from them, just move them out of the profile folder to some location where Firefox doesn't look for them. You can try to read out their contents using this tool: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

I followed your instructions by deleting the folder and when i opened it again the same problem exists, is there something else in my profile folder that is corrupt?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Firefox has the ability to clean its own files. Letting other programs do this could end up with data loss or other problems.

Open Norton's settings and have it leave the browser alone.
