Running FF 23.0.1 on W7. Set up sync and all was good. Never actually sync'd with another device was planning to try and use Booksmarks on my iPad. Now I get errors to update password and no what I enter the password is not accepted. The error of incorrect name or password show up but no where will it accept a password change.

SO I just deleted my account and decided to start from scratch. Deleted Account. Signup up for new account. Tells me Setup is Complete and data is being uploaded.

However, at the bottom of the screen, it tells me Sync has encountered an erros while syncing: Incorrect account name and password. Sync will automatically retry this action.

I hit the Preference button after the error and it will not take the password I just set.

I'm beginning to think Sync just wont function.

Try to remove the chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password) in the Password Manager and set up sync another time

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

Be cautious not to remove the chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase) entry that stores the sync key unless you have a backup of the sync key. Otherwise you will have to reset the sync key and lose all data already stored.

hello matthew, unfortunately there are currently authentication issues with the sync server - the admins are investigating this issue. maybe keep an eye on this thread to get updates when sync is restored to working order again: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/966368
