Hi. I'm no tech head, and would like to know the simplist way to transfer existing firefox bookmarks from an older desktop to a new laptop. Both run Mozilla Firefox as browser

Older desktop is Win XP New laptop is Win 7

Could I possibly use gmail to transfer. (I am a novice) Thank you

A couple of methods.

The first will create an exact copy of the bookmarks on the new laptop, replacing any that already exist. Use the method in the following link to backup the bookmarks to a json file, you can email the json file to yourself using gmail, and then restore that file to the new laptop - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+and+restoring+bookmarks

The second method will add the bookmarks from the desktop to any that already exist on the laptop. To do this you need to export the bookmarks to an html file, copy that file to the new laptop (again you can email it to yourself), and import that html file to the laptop. For details on exporting and importing to html see:

Thank you very much TonyE. That was excellent. I used the first method you described, and it worked! That was too easy, esp when you are shown how;). a BIG thanks to you again, TonyE
