Hi, I've been having this issue since day 1. When I need to Reply or Reply All , TB doesn't pick up all past threads in the email I'm trying to reply or reply to all people. So when I click "Forward" , TB does pick up the past threads... but it's VERY INCONVENIENT and FRUSTRATING because, I have to put in all e-mails that I need to send back from scratch and sometimes I miss including some e-mail(s) this way, also I have to change "FW" to "RE" manually.

Does anyone know how to fix it, what I should do etc?

IS TB TEAM AWARE OF THIS ISSUE?

Thanks!

Hmm, I think we need to start with terminology.

After reading that lot I think you mean you are not having the previous message copied into the body of the new one. This is a per account settings and is managed in account settings.

In account settings access > composition and addressing for the account.

Generally a message threading is not described as quoting, I am guessing that is what you are about.

The following is a message thread in the user interface.

This is a feature of Thunderbird for managing local mail and has nothing to do with replies or forwards.

So are you complaining quoting is not quoting everything, or is the issue with message threading?

This is a quoting issue.

Yes I have the "Automatically quote the original message when replying" checked, but TB does not show the message(s) in the Reply or Reply to all e-mail correctly. I forgot to mention. TB does show but ONLY one line from the most recent quoted message. Not the entire message(s) or threads. Also, sometimes TB does show the entire message(s)/threads, sometimes does not. When it doesn't, I have to do "Forward" so TB picks up the entire message(s) which is a pain like I said.

Thanks

Pop or Imap account ?

Is this effecting emails stored in specific folders ?

If imap Do you download full copies of emails or just headers ? Account Settings > Synchronisation & Storage click on 'Advanced' button Is the folder containing the message selected for full download ?

Under 'Disk Space' Do you use 'Synchronise all messages locally regardless of age' ? Or something else ?

Sorry if I am confusing whoever is trying to help me...

So, it happens occasionally. Sometimes TB works just fine, BUT a lot of times it doesn't quote the original message properly when I try to "Reply" or "Reply all". I've attached two images as examples.

Case 1: Only one or two lines from the original message comes up as "On xx/xx xxx wrote...". Case 2: NOTHING Whenever this happens, I hit "Forward" and somehow TB quotes everything from the original message.

I'm wondering if anyone is having the same issue...

Right click the toolbar in the write windows, select customize and drag the quote button to the toolbar. It will not stop the occasional failure (which I attribute to outside forces). It will however allow you to insert the relevant quote when it does occur.

You might want to do a windows disk cleanup. One of the outside forces I mentioned is a clutter of abandoned files in the temp folder of windows.
