Last week I changed my Yahoo mail password and updated Apple mail on my devices with no problem. On my iMac, running Monterey OS 12.6.5, I use the latest version of Thunderbird for email. However, it has not accepted the new password, which I enter in the popup window requesting it. (See screenshots) I have tried going into settings/privacy and security and changing it in saved passwords and I've tried deleted saved passwords. I have also entered the secure key. Nothing works. All my mail folders are there. I would really appreciate help on how to get Thunderbird to use my new Yahoo password. Thanks.

Thank you so much. This worked. I had read somewhere that Thunderbird can't use OAuth2, but apparently that's changed. I really appreciate your quick response and help. Delilah

Yahoo requires a different password when using an email client. This URL may assist: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html

Yahoo uses OAuth2 authentication, so change the authentication method to that in Account Settings, for both the incoming and outgoing. Remove the entries from Saved Passwords in Settings, restart TB, enter the new account password in the OAuth window to allow TB access. Cookies must be accepted in TB Settings/Privacy & Security.

David, Thank you for the link to creating a different Yahoo password for 3rd party email clients. I'm saving it in case this issue comes up again. Delilah
