I am unaware as to when Firefox is updated as I have it set to Automatic. However, within the past month, Firefox no longer allows popups from my banking institution or from two other sites I use. I have tried turning the Blocker off completely and I have used the Exceptions setting. Neither works. I can no longer access my bank records or open links to download desired files. I can find nothing in the Help section to be able to rectify this.

If I open Internet Explorer and go to my desired sites, the popups open and I am able to download my desired information. I do not understand why Firefox no longer allows the popups I've been using for years, nor can I find a way to fix this issue.

Now the popup windows are working, but within them, when I try to open a PDF (with, for example my bank statement), I am unable to open it. It is behaving in the same way the previous popup issue behaved. It attempts to open a window, and then it just closes or disappears. Today I am able to open the popups, but not the PDFs I am trying to open within them.

Can you choose to DL the PDF then view it with Adobe or another PDF reader?

Go to FF Options and type in the Options Search Box, PDF. (See attached image.)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thank you for replying, Fred. Yes, the problem still exists. I followed your instructions and restarted in safe mode but my popup windows do not open.

FYI, when I attempt to open, for example, my bank statements, a new tab appears for a second, then immediately disappears. This happens each time I attempt to open a desired link with a popup.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Have you tried the Standard setting for Content Blocking?

Menu > Content Clocking

If that worked, then you can do these:

Go to Options and in its Search Box enter:
Cookies and Site Data
Click on Manage Permissions.
Make two Allowed entries of your 'problem' Website like so:
https://ProblemSite.abc ProblemSite.abc

Also in Options, put this in its Search Box:
Pop-up
Next to the Block Pop-up Windows, click on Exceptions.

Hello Billkasal,

Would you try this please :

When you're on those sites, click on the 'i' in a circle, next to the padlock at the left side of the address bar.

Then click on the little black arrow on the dropdown (next to 'Connection') and then on "More Information", which will take you to "Page Info".

Click on the 'Permissions" tab and scroll down to "Open Pop-up Windows". Uncheck "Use Default" and check "Allow".

Then close and restart Firefox.

Does that work  ?

Thank you all for you assistance. I seem to have migrated to a new issue. I do not know at what point one of these solutions worked. It appeared to me that everything you asked me to check or change, was already in the proper setting.

HOWEVER, now the popup windows are working, but within them, when I try to open a PDF (with, for example my bank statement), I am unable to open it. It is behaving in the same way the previous popup issue behaved. It attempts to open a window, and then it just closes or disappears.

Todat I am able to open the popups, but not the PDFs I am trying to open within them.

Would you be so kind as to mark Pj's post as Chosen Solution  ? ("Solved the problem" button to the right)

Thank you in advance  !

You inadvertently marked my post as Chosen Solution instead of Pj's ......

You can rectify it by clicking on the "Undo" button to the right of that post and then mark Pj's post.

(sorry to put you through all this trouble)
