Firefox supports TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 "out of the box" with no changes required.

If you get an error accessing the site, could you copy/paste the explanation? In some cases, you need to click an Advanced button to see the whole reason.

You may have to whitelist this domain.

The website may try to fallback to a lower TLS version in a way that is no longer allowed in current releases or may be using a deprecated cipher suite.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar and use its search bar to locate this pref:

• security.tls.insecure_fallback_hosts

You can double-click the line to modify the pref and add the full domain () to the value of this pref. If there are already websites (domains) in this list then add a comma and the new domain (no spaces). There should only be domains separated by a comma in the Value column (example.com,www.example.com).

First, thanks for your help! I'm attempting to communicate with a Federal agency The instructions state:

IMPORTANT: Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 must be enabled in order to access the e-QIP System. If you can see a "blue" box below with "e-QIP" written in it then your Transport Layer Security (TLS) setting are sufficiently configured. Otherwise, click on "Enabling Transport Layer Security" below and follow the instructions to verify TLS settings.

If you check the Page Info dialog, Security tab, you can see that Firefox is connecting to this site using TLS 1.2, a better quality secure connection than TLS 1.0, and if you click the "Continue to e-QIP" button Firefox still has a secure connection. Screen shots attached for reference.

I'm not sure what the problem is with the black square, something is wrong with their "test".

Okay, I see what they did wrong. Right-click the black square, expand the This Frame item on the menu, then Open Frame in New Tab. As you'll see, there's a black overlay on the page behind a popup warning about not using open wi-fi. This is covering the normal blue background that would have shown before someone added this overlay.
