Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

Can you give an example of where this happens and what is missing? Is there a recognizable pattern to the problem? A screenshot might be helpful. You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

If you press Ctrl+a (or right-click a blank area of the page > Select All), does the text appear when selected or are those areas still blank?

In case the problem is how Firefox is adapting to your Windows theme, could you set Firefox to strictly follow page colors:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type color and Firefox should filter the page down so you can easily find the "Colors" button. Go ahead and click that.

Try changing this setting:

"Override the colors specified by the page with your selections above"

Below that, it usually says

"Only with High Contrast themes"

Click that and change the setting to

"Never"

then click OK to finish the change.

Does that help at all?

Here's a screenshot of that part of the Colors dialog:

You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected. You can check the font used for selected text in the Font tab in the right pane of the Inspector.

Note that this is not about the CSS rule that specifies the font-family, but about the font that Firefox actually uses or tries to use as shown in the Font tab.

You can check for sandbox security related issues.

You can set this pref to 2 or 1 on the about:config page to lower the sandbox security setting.

  • security.sandbox.content.level = 1
  • close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

If '1' still doesn't have effect then try '0' to disable the sandbox.

If this didn't work then undo/reverse the change and reset the pref via the right-click context menu to the default value.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Hello, it seems the problem is back again. It worked on previous websites and now the new ones that I visited are not displaying correctly :/

Is this still a problem with the text color being transparent or the same color as the background color (i.e. do you see text when you select this hidden text)?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Can you post some links to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required) so we can check the CSS rules?

What does the Inspector show for the text color and background color?

You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected.
