How do I run the profile manager under Windows 8.1
I have three laptops, two running windows 7 and one running windows 8.1 I have just set up some proifles on one of the Windows 7 machines and also started using Sync.
I've switched to the Windows 8.1 machine to test my work. Sync is working fine, I now have all my old bookmarks on the new machine.
Next, I wanted to test whether Sync had copied over the profiles. I closed Firefox and typed firefox.exe -p into the run window. This brought up Firefox itself, not the profile manager. I consulted the Help file, and tried entering the full progam name "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p
This again rings up Firefox, not the profile manager.
Why would this command not work? Is there another way to bring up the profile manager?
My Firefox on both machines is a recently installed version 33 (as I type I've had a popup offering me version 33.0.1)
i tried automatically adding troubleshooting information, but got an error message saying there was a connection failure at the mozilla.support site. I've followed the steps to add it manually.

Hello,
You need to make sure that either Firefox is closed when you run the profile manager, or that you also include "-no-remote" as well in the command line. Please read up on the following for more information:

Thanks. I -thought- I'd closed Firefox completely, but have now realised I'd left the Library window open. That was enough to prevent the profile manager coming up.
I've also answered my other question. Sync does not copy profiles, it takes the bookmarks of the profile you're logged in under at each machine and syncs those. So I Sync'd while using a profile named Kate, went to another machine, and found that Kate's bookmarks were copied to the default profile there. It seems each profile needs to be associated with a different Sync account.
