A few weeks ago, eBay-hosted images suddenly stopped showing in FF 3.6.15.

More specifically, the images do appear (at the left of listing titles) when browsing a category, but when a specific item is clicked, that image is replaced by a dark thing which looks like either a laptop with dark screen (turned off) or a failed Polaroid photo which is all black.

The images display normally on IE 8. Turns out the images display normally on FF 3.6.13 which I use on another laptop running Ubuntu 8.04.

Now on my XP laptop I'm using FF 4 but the images still don't work.

So I'd like to just go and install 3.6.15 and forget about FF 4.

How can I either get the images to work on 4 or get a copy of 3.6.15?

With eBay on display, click on the site identity button (for details on what that is see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Site+Identity+Button) and then on More Information. This will open up the page info dialog.

First select the Permissions panel, make sure that "Load Images" is set to allow (selecting Use Default should also work)

Next select the Media panel, then click on the first item in the list. Use the down arrow key to scroll through the list. If any item has the option "Block images from (domain name)" selected, de-select the option.

This should hopefully resolve your issue, but also see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Images+or+animations+do+not+show

Some add-ons can also block images, for example if you have AdBlock Plus installed, make sure that you have not accidentally created a filter to block the images.

Thanks, I independently figured it out yesterday...I tried it with two OS and two browsers and came to the conclusion that there was a problem on my end.

So I went into FF Options --> Content and discovered that images from ebayimg were blocked. That of course was easy to fix.

This does raise another (non-FF) question, since this issue appeared abruptly while browsing eBay.

Abruptly as in I'm browsing a category, I click on an item and the image displays normally...then I click on a different item and images no longer display.

Since I was not doing anything else online at the time, it appears that somehow eBay tweaked my browser setting. (A cynical theory is that eBay has a counter which toggles your browser setting when a user views Too Many Images and thus consumes Too Much Bandwidth.)

On the other hand, a number of other users were reporting similar issues at the time, so it wasn't just me.

PROBLEM EASILY SOLVED FOR ME.

I have 10.0.2 Firefox and 10.5.8 Mac.

All of a sudden I could still see the thumbnail/gallery pictures on the eBay search lists, but for most of the auctions when I clicked the listing links, I could not see the eBay pictures on the main auction listing page and could not get the "shipping and payment" tab to work.

The problem was solved easily and completely by clearing the cache: I went from Firefox Tools to CLEAR RECENT HISTORY — time range “Everything” -- selected cookies and cache, and “clear now”.
