I plan to have someone do a clean install of windows7 on my HP laptop (that currently is running vista home premium) from the windows 7 disks provided by HP. Will my bookmarks be remembered when I reload Firefox?

Chosen solution

All of your personal information for Firefox (bookmarks, passwords, etc.) are stored on your hard drive.

You need to make a backup of your entire Profile folder or of certain items in your Profile folder before installing Windows 7.

  1. Put the backup(s) in a safe place on another hard drive, on a CD, or on a USB/pin/thumb/jump drive until after Windows 7 is installed and Firefox is re-installed.
  2. Then you can copy selected files into your new Profile folder under your Windows 7 installation of Firefox.

Some information is duplicated in the following articles, but try to read all of them. If you thoroughly plan, you should lose none of your information.

Keep in mind that you will need to re-install, on your new Windows 7 installation, all of the Extensions (including toolbars that you may have installed), Plugins and Themes that you have installed in Firefox.
