Hi BillLew, is your blog out on the web or is it saved locally on your hard drive? Perhaps you have both.

If your blog is indexed by major search engines, you usually can run a site-targeted search by adding a parameter to your query. For example, let's say you wanted to search for roti on my travel blog on Google:

roti site:jeffersonscher.com/ttw

Some search engines do not let you add the folder to the url, so if that is important, you may prefer to use Google.

If the blog is saved on your Mac as individual pages in separate files, then you could use Apple's search features (I don't know the details). If you only have a backup where the page content is stored all together in a database file, then that probably won't work.

Perhaps I have misunderstood. Probably so. I don't now what to substitute for jeffersonscher.com/ttw in your example,

My Facebook blog is both out on the web and saved on my hard drive. A companion newSpin newsletter is created with Typepad. Thanks

Hi BillLew, change the domain after site: to the domain of your site. So for example:

site:blog.example.com

Google can help you do this automatically: if you see a link that says "More results from www.example.com" below a group of results, that adds site:www.example.com to your query.

Partially resolved, thank you. I'm able to search my Typepad blog by using http://diobeth.typepad.com/diobeth_newspin/

I still don't know what to use, however, to search my Facebook pages/blog. My Facebook is Bill Lewellis. Thanks.

Is there any pattern to the addresses of your FB pages/posts? Search engines are not always able to index them, but if they are, you might be able to use a consistent and relatively unique part of the URL. For example:

documentary inurl:fieldofvisionunit site:facebook.com
