Check that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

F11 worked ---- but cant get to a search engine

Do you mean it is not working, or not on screen?

Type about:customizing<Enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but some icons are locked in place.

What toolbars are visible?

Make sure that all toolbars are visible.

• "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
• View > Toolbars
  Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
• Right-click empty toolbar area

Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

• "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize

• if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
• if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup
