I went to the Adobe website to download the most up-to-date version of Adobe Flash Player (11.4.402.278). The download was successful. However, when I double-clicked on the file in the Firefox download, it did nothing. The File Security Warning dialog box did not appear. I do not know what is going on. Is there someone who can help me?

The default download location on Windows Vista is the Downloads folder, under your user folder. You could try closing Firefox and check there, to see if the Flash installer file was downloaded ... if you see it, double-click on the file. If that doesn't work, try again:

After downloading the Flash installer file to your computer, open the Downloads window, right-click the file you downloaded, and select "Open containing folder", then exit Firefox before running the Flash installer you downloaded.

See Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems under Updating Flash.. There is a link there to download the offline installer if the normal download does not work.

siegace,

Flash 11.4.402.278 is the latest version for Windows but not for Linux or Mac OS. You can test to see which Flash version is installed by visiting one of these pages:

If you are on Windows: Are you downloading the Flash plugin installer using Firefox? See Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems - There is a link under Updating Flash to download the full exe installer, if you are having issues with the normal download.

To siegace.

Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.
