My wife's computer, running Firefox under Windows Vista, was automatically updated this week to Firefox 7.0. However, mine, running Firefox under Windows 7, remains at 6.02. When I pull down Help/About it says "6.0.2 Firefox is up to date." I know I could manually download 7.0 and install it, but I wonder why Auto-Update didn't get it. Both of us are on the Release channel.

Firefox 7 updates were turned off early yesterday due to a bug related to add-ons disappearing during the update.

A Firefox 7.0.1 version to fix that issue should be available shortly.

My understanding is that there is currently a hold on Firefox 7 updates from the Mozilla servers, due to a minor problem experienced by some users when installing it and being alerted, by the installer, to update some Add-ons during the update process; a legitimate function, but some Add-ons then get hidden from the user. Firefox 7.0.1 should be released shortly, today or tomorrow, to address the minor issue.

If your wife experienced no problem with Add-ons after the upgrade, then no Add-ons needed updating at the time of the install of Firefox 7, and the issue, therefore, did not affect her system.

Not related to your question, but...

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

Thanks to both the-edmeister and SafeBrowser, you've both hit the same nail on the head.

Well, my wife didn't notice any add-ons go missing, but a whole lot of them were disabled because they aren't certified for Firefox 7. That's not the bug in action, but in itself is enough of a pain that I was glad that my system wasn't auto-updated, but it left me wondering why hers was. Must've been that hers happened to check for updates during the brief interval when 7.0 was available.

The timing of updating to 7.0 on her PC and then checking on your PC was probably the difference. I went to sleep early Wednesday morning and the update server was active, when I woke up like 6 hours later it was shut down.
