Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar (or in your case possibly on the Navigation Toolbar)

If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear

Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

I have everything you said I should, but there's still no clue of my missing icons . I'm sure it would be easier if I knew the name of that "bar" but I don't know . I know only I had it between "go forward/back one page" and link bar, and that clicking on that one button (don't remember how it looked like) a window is opened, and in that window I had left and right listbox . In the right listbox there were "shortcuts" I want to have as icons on previous described place , and in the left listbox there were all the possibilities I have for choosing to be my "shortcuts" . I remember there were some things for android as possibility (like making your own program for android etc) also there were all google products like google translator , google scholar, gmail ... Selecting an item in left listbox and then clicking on the button which looked like curvy arrow I place an item from the left to the right listbox .

This is no doubt all I can remember :(

Did you see an item labeled as "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" on a toolbar while you were in the Customize mode?

That item can be placed (dragged) on another toolbar to make it show the content of the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

your last comment was surely helpful but I don't think those icons I had were bookmarks . Those were something else . Dunno what :S

Do you mean the default smart bookmarks folders and BBC headlines?
