I use a Google Workspace account in Thunderbird. I have six main folders and each has sub-folders. I create search folders for each and favorite them so they’re across the top in TB. The individual emails then show up in each and I can chose to only show the unread ones. As far as I know TB is the only email program to allow this and it’s great. Recently I’ll be working away, pleased that I’m not getting inundated with emails, only to find out that I’m missing bunches of emails because the folders aren’t updating. I can open the individual folders and they’ll download new emails, which will then populate the search folders, but not getting to emails in a timely fashion is a problem. Anyone know what’s going on? TIA.

Are the base folder set to include the folder when getting new mail? Is the frequency of getting mail a sensible figure. The default is I think 10 or 15 minutes and folk keep setting it to like 1 minute and wondering why it never completes so they see no new mail.

Note that selecting a folder prompts a get of new mail from the server for that folder, that is not the same as receiving mail using the IDLE command which is not going to work in your scenario as you only get that in the inbox and a few other folders. The exact rules I don't try and follow. There is discussion here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1641326 that indicates Thunderbird is limited to 5 server folders, but I have not read it all.

Neither of the Selecting a folder or receiving mail via IDLE is the same thing as the time based polling for new mail. So can you please clarify if possible which process is failing you?

It's set to get mail for all folders every ten minutes. This used to work, I don't know what changed.
