How to Delete a pop.earthlink.net account in Thunderbird on Windows 10
Hi.
In Thunderbird I had and still have a pop.earthlink.net and pop.earthlink.net(1) (not sure why two accounts appear, but I digress). Then I started a new email service (NOT earthlink) and therefore added that non-earthlink account to Thunderbird. THEN I bravely did a Global Inbox Unify operation in order to consolidate my top-level inboxes (Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc) so that I no longer have two sets. That worked for the most part. NOW I plan to get daring and *delete* the Earthlink accounts in Thunderbird, keeping my new non-earthlink email account. On Monday Dec 13 Earthlink will be implementing my service cancellation request.
Can you confirm that I am interpreting the following warning correctly, that I see at the following Support page:
"Just be aware that when you remove an account all messages will go with it. If there are messages in that old account you wish to keep, move them to folders under Local Folders before you remove the account."
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1155512
See my attached current hierarchy screenshot. Now that ALL my folders are under "Local Folders," are they ALL safe from my upcoming pop.earthlink.net account deletions, including those that recently came into my Inbox to my earthlink email address, for example? Or in fact, for messages to be "safe" from the upcoming pop.earthlink.net account deletions, do they need to be under my "FILED MAIL" folder I had created ... the one that's after Inbox, Drafts....Outbox?
I'm perfectly fine with moving out my Inbox-thru-Outbox messages into FILED MAIL, but I just want to be sure whether I need to do that or even more. I'm not sure if my Thunderbird email hierarchy lends itself to deleting my pop.earthlink.net accounts. I certainly hope it does! I have a fear of my Car folder emails that had gone to my earthlink email address ending up wiped out, for instance, when I do my planned pop.earthlink.net account deletions.
Worst case scenario, should I just go ahead and cancel my Earthlink service as planned but *keep* the pop.earthlink.net accounts just to avoid TBird possible trouble that might come from deleting accounts? My fear in that scenario is then later doing a "Get Messages" and getting a sort of "Can't download from earthlink" message every time. I've got a fear for every scenario! Thanks in advance.

I would leave the account until they stop working. that way you miss no emails.
Then delete them. It is really that simple as you are using local folders. Nothing goes missing because nothing is hanging of myaddress@earthlink.net in an inbox sub folder of the address.
