Only effects certain websites, and only on my laptop, not my desktop. Most sites are fine. Seems to have occurred when I bookmarked a site on my desktop, and then my laptop synced and got screwed up. Not quite sure though.

For example, Wolfram Alpha's website does not display the favicon:

   - there is no favicon in the tab
   - when bookmarked there is no favicon

Deleting browsing data doesn't fix it. Deleting places.sqlite doesn't fix it. Refreshing the page doesn't fix it. Restarting my computer doesn't fix it.

I don't want to do a reinstall, if anything, because I shouldn't have to.

I'm only annoyed by this because I use the favicons (without text next to them) as links in the bookmarks bar. I can't do this if I don't know what the favicon is, and thus don't know what the website is.

Well, the latest update resolved the issue, so it's all good. Not sure why, but ah well.

The favicons are stored in favicons.sqlite in the profile folder, but renaming or deleting this file will remove all stored favicons and you will have to revisit all website (i.e. click each bookmark).

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I tried everyone twice, just to sure.

Anyways, thanks for the quick reply. Is that the extent of what I can do?
