Problems with showing all the text in pdf file

more options

Hi All, I have this problem. When I upload a pdf file to our company website as a link and then when I open it from the link, most of the text in the file is like symbols. The pdf file is a brochure and is exported from CorelDraw. The brochure consists of photos and text. For me is very important t solve the problem, because most of our customers use Mozilla firefox and they must be able to see everything on the brochure.

Thank you in advance.

Best wishes,

Martina

hello again, yes the development version of the pdf viewer addon is a early snapshot of what will go into future firefox versions. so when the rendering issue isn't apparent in the dev version of the pdf viewer, this means that no bug has to be filed and the fix is already on its way to get into one of the next firefox updates.

i cannot give you an exact date on when your issue will be going to be solved in firefox, because without an actual pdf sample its not possible to know which bug has caused your issue. however according to the pdf.js developers a fix that is already present in the current developer version will at least make it into firefox 29 (scheduled for the end of april).

you could test yourself if the issue is still present in firefox 28 (beta) or firefox 29 (aurora): https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/

hello martina, can you provide a link to a file/sample in question, that shows that behaviour?

Hi Philipp,

Please see the uploaded photos. I have this problem only when using Mozilla browser. If I use another one, the problem disappears.

unfortunately the direct link to the file is password protected. the firefox pdf viewer is still somewhat experimental and under very active development - you could try if the same error is occurring in the current development version, which you can download as an addon from http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/extensions/firefox/pdf.js.xpi

in case it has the the same rendering problems, you could then file a bug report at https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues (a github account is necessary for it though).

After installing the addon the problem disappeared. However, it is a serious problem, because I can't predict whether our customers will have that addon installed. Sorry that you can't not access the link, but our site is still under construction. Do you think that this addon will become part of the straderd Mozilla install pack?

Can you post my problem as bug report to https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues though I don't have a github account. For me is very important that our customers won't have the same problem. As I mentioned before most of the are using mozilla and I don't think that they are so common with the browser and know that to when having this problem.

Unfortunately, I prefer not to change my Firefox to beta version. But I can send you an active link to the pdf file when our site is launched. Hope that this link will help you. Thank you very much for the help . :)
