No changes to system that I know of and was fine when put system to sleep yesterday. Thunderbird starts normally, but no Thunderbird main window is displayed BUT the icon is placed on task bar. From Icon I can send an email or display address book window. If I start as admin it displays the Thunderbird window properly so appears to be related to user. Was 32 bit version of Thunderbird, uninstalled and installed 64 bit version 68.4.1 Windows 10 1909 up to date. Ran SFC /scannow and DISM no problems reported. Any suggestions?

TB sometimes loses the location of the profile after an update. Try this simple step first, as it sometimes restores normal operation.

Open TB, Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder, close TB. Delete global-messages-db.sqlite. Restart TB. Any difference?

Problem solved: was corrupted Thunderbird profile (not user). When mouse held on task bar icon could see folder name it was trying to display if window had been displayed. Deleted asf file for that folder (and several others) then got Thunderbird window back.

Determined by setting up for user admin and once the profile.ini pointed at my original profile directory it had same problem.
