For a while now (after the latest update of Firefox) there is a "Google View this page in (select language)" and then a button with "Translate" and another button that says "Turn off for" (language) ..

How do I get rid of this annoying "help" that I do not want? I will let Google Translate know if I want help ... It is not only on my computer.

Hi  !

In Options => General => under 'Languages' => click 'choose' and make sure you got your preferred languages set in the right order.

If that's not it, would you please take a look at this :

(The fact that this is about Windows 7 and not 10, shouldn't matter)

Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. Look for Show / Hide Toolbars at the bottom left.

There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.

Note: about:customizing is no longer present in Firefox 47+ releases.

  • Press Alt or F10 to bring up the toolbar.
Then View > Toolbars > Customize.
  • Right-click on a blank spot in the toolbar and select Customize.

I can't find any info about this Google Translate thingy in the options or anywhere in Firefox (I have version 57.0.2 ). Restore Defaults did nothing about it either.

Sorry.

I have 57.0.2 so this was not really helpful, unfortunately.

I have the order set to English, Swedish and Spanish. I do not want translation on any of those but it pops apparently up when I come to any which is not English.

Thank you so much for the link, it is so nice to see that you are not alone in this annoyance! :D I will have a closer look at what it says in that link:

The translator toolbar is added by website code. It can't be uninstalled. Workarounds: It can be disabled (as described above) or by using a user style (with the Stylish addon) It can be blocked by disabling JavaScript (the NoScript addon is good for managing Javascript). The addons are, of course for Firefox.

Found this :

https://userstyles.org/styles/104302/hide-google-website-translator

And then there is NoScript :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/

According to that link I gave you earlier, you could also add a 'google.com/translate' filter to AdBlock Plus (but I don't know if you have that installed).

As suggested in the link given by Happy112, we added to uBlock the following and this seems to work:

translate.googleapis.*/*/main*js
