I included my att.net mail in my Windows 8 (originally) laptop which was later upgraded to Windows 10 using Thunderbird. I have a new laptop with Windows 10. I tried to set up att mail on the Windows 10 mail app but couldn't do it using Yahoo and att.net. I tried using a variety of POP3 and IMAP but it didn't work. Today, I downloaded Thunderbird and tried to set up att mail but it kept on saying that the email or password is incorrect same result from trying to set att mail in Windows 10 mail app. Is it possible the updated Windows 10 is blocking att mail?

  1. Have you enabled "less secure apps" in the yahoo settings on the web site?
  2. Are you using two factor authentication on Yahoo/ATT? if so; Have you created a application password for Thunderbird to use?
  3. Have you checked your anti virus/Firewall is not blocking Thunderbird accessing the internet?
  4. Have you turned off any anti viurs scanning of emails and rebooted the device?

I am not looking at Thunderbird per se as you can not get the mail app working either. Application password notwithstanding.
