Hi

My thunderbird has stopped pulling messages from the POP3 server on outlook.com. Previously has been working for months, Been away for a few days and got home to it not working.

SMTP and IMAP work on my account.

I've checked the outlook settings on the website, POP3 access is enabled. I toggled this setting ON --> OFF --> ON to make sure it was set.

I'm using 2-step authentication and used the outlook.com site to generate a new application pwd.

Does anyone know if MS have changed something? I've searched on MS forums sites - no joy.

Thanks Terry

P.S. if anyone wants to know of the settings to enable POP3. These apparently are defaulted to OFF when MS accounts are migrated. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/pop3-settings-for-microsoft-outlook-2010-stopped/887370d7-3800-495d-86a1-1135e6218079

I had a similar experience with my hotmail account. I followed Matt's advice to delete it and re-add it, since they have been fiddling about with server settings.

I did find that I could set it up using IMAP, but POP resisted until I set it up from scratch.

You might want to move valuable message into Local Folders so you don't lose them if you have to delete your current POP-connected account.

Thank you

In the end went back to another provider. I had 2 step authentication working and couldn't then get to work again.
