I have my bookmarks arranged in folders along my bookmark toolbar. My folders and the bookmarks in the folders rearrange themselves out of the order I have put them into. Is there a fix for this?

Chosen solution

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync (temporarily) while performing maintenance/repair efforts to the places.sqlite database.

Are you using Sync to sync bookmarks between devices?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

It appears to be a sync problem. Is there a way to wipe my sync account and start over?

Resetting the password for your Firefox Account will wipe your data from the Sync server.
