in FF 3 I had the close tab button on the far right side with the browser.tabs.closeButtons config to 3.

This doesn't work in FF4 anymore, what are my options? So far I stay on 3.6 as this is a feature I really like to have.

Thanks Tilo

Setting browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3 should still work in FF4. Though on Windows 7 with transparency on the the window titlebar "X" is a little hard to see next to the "+" and the tab triangle.

jup, I was blind. My BetonFox theme hide it even more. Solved.

I'm the opposite, I like having the close button right on each tab - it's more clear to me which one I'm closing then.

To do that, about:config. Set browser.tabs.closeButtons to value 1.

I have a similar problem. I arrange my tabs on the left using the Tree Style Tab addon. In FF 3.x, when setting the browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3, the close button would appear at the bottom of the column on the left. Now the button is completely gone.

I can change the button to show on every tab, but that wastes valuable horizontal space (which is the reason for having it on the left in the first place).
