Need to get rid of one of two Sent folders

I don't know how, but I now have two Sent folders - one in the "normal" TB folders and the second called Sent Mail under a Gmail folder.

When I send an email, copies are saved in both the Sent and Sent Mail folders. If I delete an email in one of these folders, then that email is deleted in both folders.

I would like to eliminate one of these Sent folders without losing emails that have been sent. The reason is this may take up server room in my linked email account.

The second thing is that I would like to get back to the "normal" TB folders and not have this additional gmail folder.

Below is an image of my folders in TB to clarify the above.

Uncheck 'Place a copy in' in the Copies & Folders section of Tools/Account Settings, since gmail automatically copies sent messages to Sent Mail. Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, and uncheck Sent Items (and Sent if it's there), restart TB. To have a 'normal' folder structure, set [Gmail] as the IMAP server directory in Server Settings, Advanced, restart TB.

sfhowes,

Am not certain that you saw my screenshot of my folders in TB currently that was at end of my original post. I will review your advice on Copies & Folders.

But your last sentence about a 'normal' folder structure, I checked my Server Settings and it already shows IMAP Mail Server as the Server Type and imap.gmail.com as Server Name.

sfhowes,

I don't know if you saw the screenshot of my TB folders at the end of my original post. I will review your suggestion about Copies & Folders at a later date.

But your sentence about a 'normal' folder structure is puzzling since my Server Type is IMAP Mail Server and imap.gmail.com is my Server Name.

By 'normal folder structure' I simply mean one with all the folders arranged under the account, with no italicized [Gmail] sub-account structure. It's just a cosmetic change that can be easily reversed.

sfhowes,

I think I understand 'normal' folder structure, but my point was that your suggestion to achieve it is by setting (ie. changing) as IMAP server directory. I cannot see how that would affect me since I'm already at IMAP server directory so I don't see how I can 'change' it.

It's just a cosmetic adjustment. Try it, and if you prefer the standard display, it's easy enough to switch back. It has no effect on the account being set up as IMAP.
