I use the top right search bar on Firefox to look on Google. I can write a query in the search bar and even change the search engine. But when I hit enter, nothing happens. No search, no redirect to Google (or the selected search engine). I can use the center bar to do search (the center bar for the URL) but the top right search bar does nothing. I restarted Firefox with all add-ons disabled, but the same behavior happened. I'm using Firefox 26.0 right now, but it was the same behavior on 25.0.

Helllo about28, probably a corrupt "search.json" file. Try to delete (or rename) the files "search.json" and "search.sqlite" if exist (if you select to rename the files, named search.sqlite.old) in profile folder.

see for more information : http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_search_or_add_new_engines

thank you

Thanks for your help, but it didn't work. I followed the instructions on KB page and deleted the search files (as well as form-history files recommended on the KB page). On restarting Firefox, the first search worked on hitting enter (Hurray!) but then no other search would direct me to Google when hitting enter. Do you have any ideas what to do? Deleting the file on every query?
