Hello,

I deleted the autofill data from the clear all history window by checking off the form & search history box. Is there away to restore or retrieve the autofill data from a backup external hard drive?

Any Ideas appreciated,

You would need a copy of the formhistory.sqlite file.

I backup all data about once a week using windows backup onto a external hard drive. When I look at the files on the external hard drive it will not let me open any of the data. I have never had to restore lost data, so I'm on the learning curve. Do I have to use windows restore to access the file you mentioned? formhistory.sqlite

Thanks for Reply,

See:

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and later versions are hidden folders.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

Ok, I found the file formhistory.sqlite but it will not open, even after following these instructions

I am I missing something?

This is an SQLite database file and would require a dedicated program or Firefox extension like SQLite Manager to inspect its content.
You can copy this file to the current Firefox profile folder to make Firefox use it.
