Since swithing to satellite internet Firefox won't load some sites without repeated requests. Delay problem?

Since switching to satellite internet (Dishnet) Firefox won't load some sites without repeated requests. Almost instantly I get "Server not found. Firefox can't find the server at ........" After repeated clicks on the "Try Again' button I can usually, but not always, get Firefox to find the website. I NEVER have that problem with IE. Could it be a problem with the increased delay in satellite internet and can I change how long Firefox searches for a website before giving the message "Problem loading page"?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi,

Usually this may mean Firefox is unable to do DNS (name) resolution. You can try toggling network.dns.disableIPv6 to false in about:config.

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.

The Config Descriptions add-on adds helpful source comments in about:config.

Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can

The network.dns.disableIPv6 setting in my config was already set to false. The question is does satellite internet latency interfere with opening some websites? If not, then why do we see "Server not found. Firefox can't find the server at ........" and why after repeated clicks on the "Try Again' button do we sometimes get Firefox to find the website?

Also, when I use my aircard instead of the satellite connection, I don't have a problem with Firefox not being able to access the website. What is the problem with Firefox when used with satellite internet service?
