I'm on Windows XP running Firefox 7. But I had the same problem in earlier versions of Firefox.

I'm in a website and click a link (for example: on VerizonWireless, I click the link to see if they offer something in my area) I ALWAYS get an error message saying Firefox has prevented this from redirecting to another page. If I click "allow" I go to the page I wanted. I want firefox to not let a page send me to something other than what I clicked, but not to stop a move I asked for. How do I find the setting and tweak it?

And you want Firefox to follow those instructions? Maybe in three years.

I would suggest installing an extension such as "redirect remover", I have it but I do usually keep it deactivated -- sits on the addons bar and has a white-list for when it is enabled.

See:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"

The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.
