Hello, I have set FF to open new windows in a new tab but want javascript popup windows still popping up in a new window. Up to some versions ago this was not a problem but since FF version 3.dontknowwhat JavaScript pop ups open in a new tab as well (and sometimes even lightbox pop ups), what is extremely annoying. Now, thanks to some wonderful article I found out that this can be changed through about:config but every time FF updates, this setting is gone and each time again I have to find this article and change the setting again. Isn't it possible that FF keeps the old settings when updating?

Thanks, Boris

With out knowing specifically which setting is being reset after an update, it is hard to say why that may be happening. You could try setting that preference through a user.js file; a preference set that way will be set every time you open Firefox, if perchance the setting in about:config (actually the prefs.js) becomes reset during a Firefox update or by an extension getting updated.

I use user.js for preferences that I always change in Firefox. It's a lot easier to copy one file into a new Firefox Profile, than it is to remember and manually set a dozen of so preferences to configure Firefox to the way I want it to work.
