hi, Right after the last Thunderbird update, Thunderbird's behavior change. Before the update, when I started Thunderbird, it would ask me for the passwords for my two accounts, then "talk" to Earthlink then I'd see my messages in my two inboxes. After the update, Thunderbird does not ask me for my passwords, it says "checking mail server capabilities" at the bottom status bar. The little blue circle indicating the software is doing something "spins" but nothing happens. I can log into earthlink's web mail so I know the email is there. It's so much slower to access my email thru Earthlink directly and the amount of space my undealt with email messages are taking up is slowly increasing towards my storage limits. I have Windows 10 on a Toshiba laptop. I see others are having Earthlink problems but none of those requests for help mentioned the checking email status, in case this helps. I haven't changed any settings, so either Thunderbird or Earthlink has changed something. (or possibly a Windows update). Thanks for any help, Angie

Version 78 changed the minimum TLS protocol to TLSv1.2 It is worth testing the following to see if it works.

If the server you use is still using the old protocols TLSv1.0 or TLSv1.1 then you will not be able to download emails, so you need to change the minimum TLS version back to what was being used in version 68. Please follow the instructions at this link and then restart Thunderbird. You do not need to change any of the server settings.

Thank you very much. My email downloaded successfully. After catching up a bit, I'll try and notify Earthlink. Again, thank you, Angie
