I recently went through all my bookmarks on desktop to categorize and filter them. While doing this, I noticed that none of my bookmarks are being synced to my phone. This led me to checking the synced devices list on both my phone and my desktop. The desktop says my phone is connected, while my phone states it is connected only to a different desktop to the one I did all my organizing on. I tried dis- and reconnecting my phone to get it to recognize the desktop, no dice. I downloaded another firefox app by mozilla (Why does both Firefox browser and Mozilla Firefox browser exist on the playstore?), signed in, it synced to my phone, not my intended result. This is not a confusion about the use of the Mobile folder, as my goal is to receive the bookmarks I put in the mobile folder of my desktop. I do not have over 5000 bookmarks, so that shouldnt be the issue I am currently on Windows 10 and on Android 10. Can somebody help me sync my bookmarks? (I do not care for the bookmarks on my phone, as they seem to be the same as the ones on desktop where before sorted and filtered them. They are a nuisance) Additional Information: When I went to pair the second browser, the phone stated a lost connection and a failed pairing, while my desktop congratulated me on pairing a new device.

Hi

Do you have all your bookmarks on your desktop?

Do you need any of the bookmarks that are currently on your phone?

I am not sure due to the quantity of bookmarks, but I assume any bookmarks on my phone are redundant. I looked over them, and they seem to be the same ones I had on desktop before I sorted through them there. I have not added any bookmarks through mobile since then.

Ok, thank you. I can walk you through how to fix this, but it will start with resetting and erasing everything in your copy of Firefox for Android.

  • Open the Android Settings app (typically a cogwheel icon)
  • Select Applications and find Firefox
  • Clear Data (this will reset the app - there is no way to recover any lost data!)

Now go to your desktop, type about:preferences#sync and select "Synchronise Now"

Wait five to ten minutes and go to Firefox on your Android device and follow prompts to enter your existing (same that you use on the desktop) Firefox Account credentials. You may be sent a verification email to your email account.

After a very short delay, you should see that your bookmarks have been synched from your desktop copy of Firefox.

I hoep this helps.

Sorry for the delay, sadly, this reply didn't solve my problem. Despite my making sure the desktop version was the most recently syncronised, I still received the old bookmarks back. :/ dont know how this is happening

Can you please help me? My problem has not resolved itself, when I reinstall Android firefox and resync, I always get my awful old bookmark list instead of the one I made on desktop. I already checked, I'm not just confused about mobile vs desktop bookmark folders, it is all on one account despite functionally behaving like to different accounts. I do not want to have to filter all my bookmarks again, please advise.
