Firefox 38.05

Everytime I start Firefox, the default search engine is set to "MyStartSearch". After setting the default search engine in Options to Google and removing "MyStartSearch" from the search engines, Firefox mysteriously changes it back to "MyStartSearch" on the next start of the program. How can I get rid of this nagging and unwanted persistent behaviour?

I have this same problem & it is infuriating. Even more so that everywhere I go I get told the same thing - Clean with AdwClean / MalwareBytes / Uninstall programs from Control Panel, etc., etc. Don't you think I would have already done all that? There is absolutely no sign of anything I don't recognise, yet whenever I open my browser, that same MSS fires up & takes over everything, installing Any Protect, Bubble Dock, Search Protect, Games Desktop, Desktop Weather & CrossBrowser at every opportunity. I try to uninstall them with Revo, but they just keep re-installing themselves. It would help if I had any idea where the damn thing was hiding. I've been through the about:config in Firefox & absolutely no sign of it. I even did a clean re-install of Firefox, downloading with IE (which has also been totally taken over by it), and it's still there. I've tried searching the Registry for any sign of it - nothing. While I have this thing taking my browser over, I essentially have no internet.
