How do I un-sync my Webmail email from Thunderbird in terms of deleting emails on the Webmail account to free up its memory, but still keeping it on Thunderbird

I was told to free up my Webmail account space by downloading Thunderbird to access my work emails. In doing so, the intent was to have everything on Thunderbird, and delete my Webmail Inbox. The problem is that if I delete something on Webmail, it ALSO deletes on Thunderbird, which is what I do NOT want.

Sounds like you have an IMAP account versus POP. That is exactly how IMAP works. This happens with any client when using IMAP email. The messages stay on the server and you view them remotely on your computer or other mobile devices. If you delete them on the server or from any remote device they are gone. You can move them into a folder under Local Folders in Thunderbird to keep a local copy and then when you are sure the message is there and you can open and read it you can delete it from the server.
