My computer crashed and after reinstalling Firefox on a new drive I am having problems. 1) Even though I have it set to use Adobe for the pdf files and to always activate it, it is still downloading pdf files and marking them as Firefox. These are pdf files being downloaded from email.

2) it is not completing downloads (hangs when it is almost complete) And it is putting downloads together in files rather than separately like it use to.

hello, does it work when you go into the acrobat reader > edit > preferences > general & click on the default application option at the bottom? in there reselect adobe's application and confirm this selection...

On #1, this seems to be a bug in the installer for Windows XP: when you associate PDFs with Adobe Reader, they still are described as Firefox HTML documents. It's more of a cosmetic error than a real problem, but if you find it intolerable, I think the workaround others are using is to make IE their default browser instead of Firefox.

On #2, at least part of this is a beta bug. See: After installing firefox 32. beta 9 dowloads is not completed.

The problem with having it come up as Firefox pdf files is it makes for extra steps in my work. When it's Adobe I can just hit print on the Adobe file without having to open it. I'm worried that the people who receive these files (I have to send pdf files to clients) may not be able to open them or is that not a concern. I have everything marked in applications as Adobe Reader being the default.

And this is Windows 7 and whatever the latest version of Firefox is. Will reinstalling Firefox help?

Is it your intention to use the Firefox beta version (i.e are you a tester) or were you previously on the release update channel?
