After the last update Firefox suddenly goes to the Print Preview window when clicking the Print button rather than just printing the page.

Three clicks are now needed to print a page rather than one.

Secondly when closing the tab that was printed focus now goes to the tab to the right of that tab rather than the one that was previously active.

When you have to print off 30+ pages (invoices from a e-commerce back-end for example) printing is now significantly more time consuming.

Why make changes which introduces additional complexity?

Hopefully Mozilla will see sense and reverse this odd change at the next release.

Maybe look at the browser.tabs.selectOwnerOnClose pref on the about:config page.

You can have a look at this extension:

I don't know the reason behind this, but since I often need to adjust the scaling or orientation to make the text print at a reasonable size, I can see the logic of it for users like me where each print job is from a different source.

In your situation, it's not so helpful.

I suggest using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+p for now. Alternately, if you are displaying the classic menu bar (File, Edit, View...), Print is on the File menu.

Thanks cor-el.

I have installed the extension and it does the job beautifully. Still object to the default going to Print Preview though. If you do want print preview on the standard button you can drop down to it anyway.

Regarding the tabs, thanks for the tip but browser.tabs.selectOwnerOnClose was alreday set to true and setting it to false doesn't change to the (old default) behaviour I was after.
