After installing Firefox 11, whenever the computer awakens from sleep mode, and new tabs created do not appear on the tab bar, although they do appear on the pull-down list on the far right.

This is the most obvious problem, but there is other strange behaviour when in this state, such as the screen not refreshing when switching tabs, and Firefox crashing with "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" "Runtime Error!" "abnormal program termination".

I recommend trying to disable unnecessary plugins and addons as they might be the root of the problem. You should also update to the latest version.

Does it work properly in a new window (Firefox > New Tab > New Window; Ctrl+N)?

There may be a problem with the localstore.rdf file.

No. Opening a New Window does not work. In fact if I do, and then close both windows, firefox stays running and I need to use Task Manager to kill it before I can restart it again.

It appears to me as if Firefox 12 does *not* support Windows 2000. Considering that, even when running in safe mode, when I try "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" it crashes with "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" "Runtime Error!" "abnormal program termination".

Interesting that the "fix" is suggesting that we switch to Opera. I'll give it a try. If I like it I guess I'll change browsers on all eight of the machines that I use.

Windows 2000 is an ancient operating system and Firefox doesnt support it anymore because it causes performance problems on XP and over and maintaining two versions of Firefox would be too much work.

You should update to Windows XP because 2000 isnt even supported by Microsoft anymore...
