After upgrading to Firefox 4, I've noticed a huge change in the way pages scroll. All pages scroll in a slow and choppy manner, regardless of the settings I use. I've tried turning Smooth Scrolling on and off, and I've done a clean install too. I could live with the way it was in 3.6 but it is now incredibly annoying and almost unuseable.

Valittu ratkaisu

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Yes, this ended up being the problem. My extensions were fine but hardware acceleration had to be turned off. Everything is running smoothly now.
