Starting a few days ago, my usually great Firefox (which is updated to the most recent) will not work. When I open it, it freezes up if I try to click anything. It will do this a lot, sometimes letting me click something, loads that page eventually, then freezes again. Sometimes, it will work (slowly) after a long time, but not always.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

I tried to open FF a few days ago after it worked all day.

User Agent

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.1.249.1064 Safari/532.5

Do you have a firewall or anti-virus program that might be getting in the way?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

Also check the settings in Norton.

Thanks for the fast responses!

I have Norton Anti-virus. What would I have to check specifically to see if that's the problem?

I went into safe mode and that way, it seems to work fine. I'll try going through, like you said, and find out which one is causing it and see what happens. Thank you!
