Error msg trying to log into thunderbird "unable to log in at server. Probably wrong config, username or password"
Old computer, usually leave on and logged in. Not using that much. Thunderbird asked for password but didn't work. Old computer being really slow etc. email problems, got a new laptop that I just turned on an hour ago for the first time. Best buy set it up, and back to trying to get into email. Get yellow error message I put in the subject line. From reading a few threads I can offer The screen I'm in is a set up your existing email address Incoming pop3 outgoing smtp both at att.net came up automatically?
know the email address is right. Pretty sure about the password "your name" tried caps and not caps
Didn't have gmail set up on here although I accessed it through a browser just now to write this.
Don't understand some of the talk about going through webmail to do something? is there a website to see my emails?
So this started on my old computer and is still happening on the new computer
Thank you

If you are using ESET/NOD32 security/AV .... then probability is high that ESET is causing your problems. According to ESET forums, you should temporarily disable SSL on ESET until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products?ref=esf - the problem is being reported by dozens of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/. You might also inform them of your difficulty.
Thank you for replying but I certainly never signed up for, bought, loaded eset. The only way this could be on my machines is if best buy put it there, Im checking but don't think so.
Is there a web...place to see my emails? Id like to know what I'm missing.
Somehow I don't think this is ever going to be resolved. Am I just out of luck? No email on my computer just gmail on my phone?
