Good news! You don't have to manually copy the bookmarks and carry them.
Firefox 4 has a built-in feature called Firefox Sync. It allows you to keep your bookmarks, history, passwords and open tabs in sync with Firefox on another computer or mobile phone. For more information, see this article: How do I set up Sync on my computer?.
Note that these bookmarks will not be synced to other browsers like Internet Explorer etc.
Hello Many thanks for your kind answer. I was actually meaning using any computer anywhere..bit like yahoo bookmarks? I suspect this can not work with Firefox?
Odd thing is as I think I said, is I can not save to yahoo bookmarks even though I have yahoo for FF and toolbar the save button on yahoo does not work and as not for some time.
I have loaded and reloaded it e.t.c. but nothing..so my question was about maybe gettting rid of Yahoo completely and just using FF bookmarks.
Could I just take my bookmarks on a flash drive e.t.c. if I go anywhere?

Firefox Sync works with any computers anywhere as long as you have setup Firefox Sync on those computers.
You can export your bookmarks and copy them to a flash drive and take them with you. Depending on how you are going to use these bookmarks, you have the choice of exporting them in 2 formats: HTML and JSON. You can open the HTML file using any browser to view your bookmarks - it is the most convenient way.
Here are the steps to export your bookmarks:
- Click on Bookmarks menu > Show All Bookmarks. (If you have the orange Firefox button, then click on it and then select Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
- Next, in the Library window that opens, click on Import and Backup and select Export HTML...
- Select a name and location to save the HTML file.
- Close the Library window.
Alternatively, you can use XMarks Sync. It will allow you to access your bookmarks from any computer and any browser. You can learn more about them here. Their Firefox add-on can be installed from here.
