Ubuntu 8.04 upgrade to 10.04 LTS Adobe Reader 8.1.1. Web pages would not load PDF. Disabled Acroreader plugin, uninstalled acroread, still shows on plugin list and is enabled after browser restart after delete pluginsreg.dat

PDF link opens Blank tab in Firefox, no file.

SOLVED : $ sudo find / -name nppdf.so to lists these locations /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/nppdf.so /root/.mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so

these commands get rid of them $ sudo rm /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so $ sudo rm /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/nppdf.so $ sudo rm /root/.mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so
